Historiography of the conflicts in the "post-Soviet space" for the last 20 years has undergone a profound evolution, reflecting the changes in a historiography of the Soviet and post-Soviet "ethnic and religious issues" in general. This evolution is manifested in the change of different points of view as the dominant political and academic circles . In the comparative study not only representatives of political science included, as it was before, but also historians, sociologists, and a little later - conflictologists, psychologists and researchers in other fields of social science. Studies have shown that the majority of open conflict and violence, as in the Soviet Union during perestroika, and in the post-Soviet states was associated with a desire to adopt a new state for the ethnic groups that it did not have or had a limited extent. This tendency reflects, first and foremost, the interests of ethno-political elites. Nationalist politicians can take advantage of objective ethnic differences and inspire open opposition.

Conflicts in the NC have a specific historical objective and subjective reasons. The reasons may be social, political, social and economic problems - the growth of social tension, political strife, corruption, bureaucracy, paralysis of power, denial of rights and freedoms of national minorities. The conflict has its stages, the stages of development mechanisms and decision.
